Andy Serkis is to receive the Motion Picture Showman of the Year prize at the 55th annual International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Awards.

Serkis is a renowned performance-capture actor whose work was prominently featured last year in the blockbusters "War for the Planet of the Apes" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."

He is scheduled to be honored at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on March 2.

"Andy Serkis, with his unparalleled flexibility and understanding of movement, has made motion- capture his own. We are delighted that he will be flying in from England to be with us," Steven Poster, national president of the ICG, said in a statement.

Serkis is also known for his portrayal of Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, as well as the titular beast in the 2005 version of "King Kong."
