Bella Thorne came under fire this week after sharing a photo of herself in a fur coat on Instagram.

The 18-year-old actress posted a picture of herself in a jumpsuit and fur coat, writing, "When you're a tomboy and trade in sweats and kicks for ....#ootd #shoes #basic #mirrorselfie #hellomarch #supertuesday #positivevibes #girlpower."

Thorne changed the caption to include, "Dear internet trolls, it's faux fur," after fans objected, but deleted the addition after social media users identified the coat as the alice + olivia Tierra striped jacket.

The alice + olivia coat uses genuine rabbit and arctic fox fur from China and retails for $1,700. Thorne's rep told TMZ the actress was "told it was faux fur" when she received the jacket at a photo shoot and will never wear it again.

"You just don't 'not know' the material your coat is made of. The tag clearly states if it's faux or not. She's definitely at fault," one Instagram user wrote.

Thorne is best known for playing CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel sitcom "Shake It Up" and has since appeared on MTV series "Scream." The actress, who will star in "Amityville: The Awakening," has not removed the fur coat photo.

Country star Miranda Lambert is among the other celebrities who have been criticized for wearing real fur.

Even North West, Kim Kardashian's toddler daughter, came under fire after the reality star dressed her in fur last year.
