Rapper XXXTentacion, whose second album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March, died Monday after an unidentified gunmen shot him in South Florida, local authorities said.
The rapper, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, had just returned to his vehicle after shopping for a motorcycle in Deerfield Beach, Fla., when two unidentified men approached and shot him, sources told TMZ.
Broward County Sheriff's officials said XXXTentacion was taken to Broward Health North hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police dispatch audio said the shooters fled the scene in what appeared to be a black Dodge Journey.
