Superhero The Atom is the next playable character coming to developer NetherRealm Studios' DC Comics fighting game sequel, Injustice 2.

The Atom displays his form-changing abilities in a new gameplay trailer released Tuesday that features the physics genius known as Ryan Choi shrinking down to a subatomic level or growing into a giant in order to defeat his opponents.

The trailer was released following the finale of The CW's Chasing the Cup: Injustice 2 series that featured a competitive tournament around the fighting game. The CW is home to a host of DC Comics dramas including Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow which features actor Brandon Routh as The Atom.

Ryan Choi in the DC Comics world is the protege of Ray Palmer, the original Atom who has gone missing.

"Physics prodigy Ryan Choi took on the mantle of the Atom when his mentor - and original Atom -Ray Palmer mysteriously disappeared. Now armed with quantum shrinking technology, Ryan will use the subatomic power of the quantum bio-belt to seek out his lost friend and further the fight for justice," reads the synopsis for the trailer.

The Atom unveiling comes after NetherRealm announced a trio of characters coming to Injustice 2 as part of the Fighter Pack 2 expansion.

They include Dark Horse Comics character Hellboy, Aquaman villain Black Manta and Raiden from Mortal Kombat.
