Mariah Carey caused a stir last night when the 43-year-old singer's performance at the 2014 BET Honors aired for the first time.

The ceremony, taped earlier this month, took place at the Warner Theater in Washington D.C. and honored Aretha Franklin, Ice Cube, and late former South African President Nelson Mandela, among others.

Carey took to the stage in a cleavage-baring black dress that caused an immediate reaction on Twitter. Her performance of her new single "You're Mine (Eternal)" from atop a piano only served to increase the buzz when many people suspected the singer was lip-synching.

The singer has been accused of lip synching in the past, including at the 2013 BET Awards in Los Angeles.

Direct Lyrics reports that "You're Mine (Eternal)" has struggled in the charts since the song's iTunes launch last week.
