Helen Hunt has reportedly called it quits with her longtime boyfriend after 16 years of dating.

People reported the 54-year-old actress' split from producer Matthew Carnahan on Wednesday, with a source saying the couple "have had trouble getting along for several years."

Hunt shares 13-year-old daughter Makena Lei with Carnahan, who is also dad to son Emmett. E! News reported Hunt and Carnahan broke up "several months" ago after having an on-again, off-again relationship for years.

"She has been split up with Matthew for several months," a source said. "They had a rocky relationship and many offs and ons over the years. They stayed together as long as they did because of their daughter."

"They've split up before, but this time seems to be different," the insider added.

Hunt was previously married to actor Hank Azaria from 1999 to 2000. Her split from Carnahan came as a surprise to some because she and the "House of Lies" creator seemed so "in love," according to InTouch Weekly.

"Friends were shocked," a source said. "Helen and Matthew always appeared to be super in love. Their married friends would joke that they were jealous of their relationship."

Hunt is known for playing Jamie Stemple Buchman on "Mad About You," and for starring in such films as "As Good as It Gets" and "Pay it Forward."
