Meredith Phillips has revealed she struggled with alcoholism for years but is finally on a sober path.

The second-season The Bachelorette star admits she was an alcoholic up until six months ago but has now been sober for over 150 days, People reported.

"For years I'd wake up every day feeling like I was hit by a truck," Phillips told People. "But I realized I was going to kill myself."

At her worst, Phillips says she was drinking more than 20 bottles of wine a week and blacking out on a daily basis.

"There wasn't another path for me other than to stop," she added. "I'm finally starting to live my life again."

However, the 39-year-old former model and reality TV star insists getting over her addiction and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is still an uphill battle. For example, Phillips apparently hopes to lose 10 pounds but doesn't want to take on too much too soon.

"I need to get back in the gym. I should really be taking better care of myself," Phillips explained. "But I really can only focus on one thing at a time right now."

Phillips selected Ian McKee at the conclusion of her The Bachelorette edition, but the couple announced they were splitting in February 2005.
