VH1 has announced that it has begun production on Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, a new reality series that will follow the former Poison frontman and Nashville Star judge as he searches for a woman to start a relationship with.  The 10-episode series is scheduled to premiere in July.

Rock of Love will "reveal the private side" of Michaels -- who had a short relationship with Pamela Anderson that yielded a sex tape and has two daughters with another woman -- but has never been married.  Living with Michaels in his Los Angeles mansion, the women competing for his affection on Rock of Love will be tested on their "devotion" to him through numerous challenges, with the winners being rewarded with dates, ala Flavor of Love and I Love New York.

Rock of Love was created and executive produced by by Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego for Mindless Entertainment and 51 Pictures, The Surreal Life team who also produced VH1's Flavor of Love, I Love New York, The Surreal Life and My Fair Brady reality hits.

With Rock of Love, it appears VH1 is attempting to cash-in on the success of its other "Celebreality" reality programming series, which helped the cable network achieve its "best year ever" in 2006.
