The Apprentice 3 - Episode 12 Summary

'One Might Be Lonely, But Seven is Just Unlucky' By samboohoo
Original Airdate: April 14, 2005

Previously on The Apprentice...

The teams were required to design a wearable technology clothing line.
Craig and Tana couldn’t get along
Alex couldn’t be found
Chris couldn’t find the team credit card
And Angie couldn’t speak, therefore she couldn’t continue.

If you missed the show, check out the excellent recap by Oscirus here.

Six candidates are left. Who will be fired next?

Cue the “money” song. And while you’re at it, cue up another tune, one by the band, Styx. As you will soon see, the lyrics fit:

(The Angry Young Man): You see the world through your cynical eyes You're a troubled young man I can tell You've got it all in the palm of your hand But your hand's wet with sweat And your head needs a rest And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it Why must you be such an angry young man When your future looks quite bright to me And how can there be such a sinister plan That could hide such a lamb Such a caring young man And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it You're killing yourself if you don't believe it Get up, get back on your feet You're the one they can't beat and you know it Come on let's see what you've got Just take your best shot and don't blow it.

Okay, okay, enough music for one night. Let’s get on with it.

/the donald or td/ noun: The Boss. It’s his show, his money and his rules.

Key Quote of the Night: “Chris, you’re fired.”

I know, I know, I just gave it away. But he usually does within the first 10 minutes anyway, and he will tonight in the form of:

/TD’s lesson of the week/: As per the usual, TD gives us his “lesson of the week” about 10 minutes into the show. Said lesson usually is foreshadowing of who the winning team will be. TD states that one (at least one working for him) should never quit and never give up until the job is done -- even if it takes you 48 straight hours to do so.

/team net worth/ noun: Chris and Alex returning to the suite, having survived another Boardroom.

/pontiac sol’stis/ noun: The object of this week’s task. Each team must design a promotional catalog for the new Pontiac Solstice, a sleek, sexy, two-seat roadster starting at around $20k. The teams will be given access to everything they need to put together the brochure. The team with the most impressive piece (insert your own sexy, sleek joke here) in the eyes of the Pontiac execs will be the winner.

Since Net Worth is down 4-2, it’s once again time to even up the teams. TD asks Chris and Alex to choose someone from Team Magna to join them.

Chris and Alex look over at Magna. Tana is exempt, Chris has already worked with Craig, neither Chris nor Alex can have ever seen that other chick before, so that leaves Bren, who is more than eager to switch.

/guaranteed victory/: It’s three guys and a car. What could possibly go wrong?

/kendra and, up until now, inveesibile/ noun: The hero of the night, and probably the next Apprentice.

Based on her previous experience in designing, writing and producing four press kits, Kendra tells her team that she would like to be the Project Manager for this task. Tana’s exempt and has nothing to lose, so she gives her okay. And Craig goes with the flow. The project involves a car, and he’s working with two girls. Given the record of previous losing project managers, he figures the odds are certainly in his favor.

Kendra takes charge and immediately states her vision to her teammates: A Love Affair with the Car. The pages of the brochure will focus on the different emotions the car will elicit from the buyer. After stating her vision to both Craig and Tana, Kendra assigns the management of the interior shots to Craig, although not before she makes sure that she too has a firm handle on those reins. She and Tana then leave to go and take care of the exterior shots.
