NBC's 'Providence' took an 8.6/16 for the hour, coming in 1st. CBS' 8PM second episode of 'The Ellen Show,' scored a 5.2/10, a number was good enough for second in the timeslot. At 8:30 p.m., CBS' premiere of 'Danny' slipped to a 4.2/8, taking third for the half-hour.
FOX's 'Dark Angel' aired for the first time in its new Friday 8PM timeslot, with the season premiere taking a 4.7/9, third on the night.
As for the rest of ABC's Friday night slate, the series premiere of the John Stamos/Melissa George action-comedy 'Thieves' had a decent showing at 9PM, taking a 6.2/11 and second place for the hour. 'Once & Again' returned to the air at 10 p.m., pulling a 5.3/10 and third place for the hour. The best news for ABC was that the ratings were very steady on the night, with viewers fluctuating no more that 6 percent during individual episodes.
