The Real World/Road Rules Challenge and The Challenge host was released from the hospital a month after he suffered a serious bike crash which left him in a medically-induced coma, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Lavin, who has served as the host of MTV's The Real World/Road Rules Challenge and The Challenge series since 2005, returned home on Friday and will reportedly be starting a program for brain injuries at an outpatient facility in Las Vegas.

Lavin has "crawled out of a deep hole," his mother Barbara "Bobbi" Lavin told Las Vegas Review-Journal. "He's starting to get his personality back."

"He is now walking, talking, eating on his own, and is getting his sense of humor back."

The professional BMX dirt bike rider suffered an orbital fracture of an eye socket and a fractured right wrist after he was thrown from his bike while competing in a dirt qualifying round in the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas.

The 33-year-old completed two weeks of rehabilitation prior to his release from the hospital, but Barbara said Lavin -- who is wearing eye patch and relying on occasional help from his fiancĂ©e, Roxanne Siordia -- still has a ways to go before he fully recovers.

He has some eye issues and balance issues, but as the swelling goes down, we hope they will go away," Barbara said.
