The Bachelorette winner Dotun Olubeko has revealed if he had any hesitation or reservations about proposing marriage to Charity Lawson after only a handful of dates with her.

Charity rejected Joey Graziadei in second place and selected Dotun as her winner at the end of The Bachelorette's twentieth season, which aired Monday night on ABC.

Dotun proposed marriage to Charity at the Final Rose Ceremony, but there was apparently a lot that went through his mind before popping the question.

"Did you think, 'Should I get down on one knee?' Or were you 100 percent?" Joe Amabile asked Dotun on the August 22 episode of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast.

"At the end of the show," Joe continued, "I think it's normal to think, 'I want to be with this person, but an engagement is actually a really big thing. Am I really ready for this?'"

Dotun -- who conducted the interview with The Bachelorette 20 star by his side -- acknowledged there are "so many layers" to that question.

"I knew I was ready, right? Like, I wouldn't have been a part of this journey if I wasn't ready. But my person, that was going to be the hard thing to do -- to find my person," Dotun explained.

"But once I met this special lady here, it all started to make sense, and then by Week 4 or whatever -- around that time -- our connection really took off and I was like, 'I can really see her being my person.' It was stuff I was seeing on-camera but off-camera, too, the little things. I was like, 'That's The One right there!'"

Dotun insisted while he "really was ready" for an engagement, he noted, "But of course there is always doubt."

The 30-year-old integrative medicine specialist from Fresno, CA, reasoned, "I'm not a psychopath," which made Charity laugh out loud.

"So of course you're like, 'This is f-cking weird,' and, 'This is not how I ever imagined it,'" he noted. "And also, you probably understand that, like, it's hard to be successful leaving this."

Dotun therefore admitted he had thought to himself, "Is this really worth everything that's going to come with it?"

Dotun also had no idea The Bachelorette and The Bachelor is intended to end in an engagement. Prior to appearing on the show, Dotun hadn't watched the franchise, and he certainly wasn't a big fan. (He was also extremely close to backing out of the opportunity).

But Dotun concluded in Fiji that Charity was worth it all, and so the answer to his question was "actually pretty easy."

And "especially in those last couple days," Dotun shared, "I was so sure. It's all I wanted... Yeah, 100 percent."

Dotun got emotional just thinking about that Final Rose Ceremony in Fiji, when he had popped the question and Charity replied, "A million times yes!"

For Charity's part, she recalled being "dead set on an engagement" when The Bachelorette process began.

"I was like, 'I want this to end in an engagement.' And it kind of sounds irrational... but the engagement was my focus at a point. But then I was like, 'I don't know, let me take some steps back and really, like, consider all factors here," Charity explained.

Charity said it was around hometowns when things got really serious for her and she had developed multiple strong connections.

Because of her confused heart, Charity said she started to "waver" and be "on the fence" about an engagement.

"I thought, 'I could just leave in a relationship. An engagement is so serious.' I was like, 'How will I know that... I'm going to be so sure?'" Charity recalled.

"But obviously you see me and Dotun's love story from start to finish, and there was never a doubt that I knew this man was also going to choose me... I felt so reassured in that sense."

Charity told Joe and Serena that while she and Dotun could've left the show just dating and happy, "it felt to right" with Dotun and she felt "so sure" about their relationship.

"I can't even put into words what that feeling was like," Charity gushed.

"It's just, you know. That saying is so cliche, but you truly just know... That helped me get to the decision of, 'Yes, I can follow through with this and be okay and confident in my decision.'"

Dotun and The Bachelorette star's speeches at the Final Rose Ceremony have been compared to wedding vows. They expressed how much they valued, respected and admired each other, and they were both deeply in love.

"With Dotun, it boils down to a feeling you can't really place and you can't really pinpoint; you just have it and it's there, and when it comes together, you feel alive," Charity gushed on the finale of her season.

"I love Dotun, and I see, so clearly, a future with him -- a future that is going to bring me the most happiness."

Charity and Dotun said on The Bachelorette's live Season 20 finale that they are in no rush to wed; however, they can imagine planning a wedding fairly soon -- and maybe even getting married in Nigeria, according to Good Morning America.

The Bachelorette couple said they're just looking forward to being engaged, going on dates in public, and growing in love.

To help them on that journey, ABC gifted Charity and Dotun a romantic trip to Greece. Charity will also be staying in California for a while as she competes on Dancing with the Stars' upcoming 32nd season.

Joey, meanwhile, was officially announced as The Bachelor star for the show's 28th season, which is expected to premiere in January 2024.

And before The Bachelor returns, ABC is premiering Bachelor in Paradise's ninth season as well as The Golden Bachelor starring Gerry Turner on Thursday, September 28 beginning at 8PM ET/PT.
