CBS Tuesday revealed the upcoming season of its Emmy Award-winning reality show, "The Amazing Race," will be a family edition.

Instead of the regular two-person teams, 10 four-member family teams will race around the world for the $1 million prize, E! Online reported.

The teams will face a series of challenges as they race, testing the strengths of their familial bonds, E! said.

Because children are contestants for the first time, the show will have fewer non-elimination episodes and the teams will travel less than half the 72,000 miles logged in previous seasons.

"The Amazing Race" has already won two Emmys for best reality series and is up for a third next month.

The new season kicks off with a two hour special Sept. 27.
