In sneak-peek footage of the show's premiere episode released by TLC, newcomer Steven opens up about how he met Alina and why she was initially hesitant to pursue a relationship with him.

Steven reveals in the preview clip how he's a devout Mormon whose faith is "superbly important" to him.

"When I was 19 years old, I got called to go on a mission and so, for the next two years, I lived in Eastern Europe and I learned to speak Russian. I'm super grateful that I did learn it because now I have Alina," Steven says in the teaser.

Steven apparently met Alina on a language-exchange website and recalls, "I started helping her English a little bit and she's helping me with Russian."

"From the very get-go, we are kind of interested in each other," he explains.

"So I said something kind of flirty like, 'Can I have your number?' That kind of a thing. We started calling each other every day. And since then, we haven't stopped."

Steven, however, says Alina was "super nervous" upon learning he is a Mormon because Russians allegedly view people of his religion as "a cult."

"She didn't even want to meet up with me because she was afraid that I was going to sell her organs," Steven admits.

"I decided to invite her mom, invite my mom. Maybe I [could] convince her like, 'Hey, like, I'm not gonna harvest your organs, I'm not gonna kidnap you. Your mom will be there,' which is kind of silly -- I feel like it'd be just as easy to kidnap two people, but it made her comfortable and then she agreed."

Steven adds in the clip how he and Alina felt an immediate attraction to each other when they finally met in person.

"She comes out of the elevator, we make eye contact and I run up and I hug her. And it seems like something off a movie where like, [we're] instantly connected," Steven gushes.

Hopefully love will guide Steven and Alina to happily-ever-after, because TLC recently teased how the couple will face some major adversity in their relationship on the new 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way season.

"When the Russian border closes because of the coronavirus pandemic, Steven and Alina come up with a backup plan to meet up and marry in Turkey instead," TLC says in a description of the pair.

"Once there, secrets of Steven's past and Alina's suspicions of infidelity begin to threaten their future together, and Alina questions if she truly knows the man she's about to marry."

Season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way will also star new couple Ellie and Victor as well as returning couples Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre, Evelin Villegas and Corey Rathgeber, Sumit and Jenny Slatten, and Armando Rubio and Kenny Niedermeier.
