90 Day Fiance couple Jenny Slatten and Sumit apparently have TLC executives wishing cameras had followed them at all times so they wouldn't have missed one of the most shocking events in franchise history.

Alon Orstein, senior vice president of production and development at TLC, acknowledged a key part of Jenny and Sumit's storyline actually came as a complete surprise to producers, E! News reported.

"I will say for us, and maybe because it's just still fresh in mind, but when we found out that Sumit was married, that really caught us off guard," Orstein told the website.

"And I remember vividly where I was in the office when I heard about it and talking about it on the phone with our production partners, Sharp. It was definitely a moment."

Jenny was a 60-year-old from Palm Springs, CA, and Sumit was a 30-year-old from Delhi, India, when they appeared on the debut season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way.

Towards the end of the season, Sumit -- who had attempted to keep his relationship with Jenny a secret -- was ambushed at his apartment by more than a dozen of his family members, including his father-in-law, who all expressed disappointment and disgust over his affair with Jenny.

Sumit's family took him away from Jenny and left her all alone in India for almost a week.

The family threatened to get the police involved, and Jenny was terrified, especially because she was innocent in the situation and had no idea Sumit was married to begin with.

Cameras were not around to document this dramatic moment because, according to Orstein, 90 Day Fiance stars aren't filmed around the clock. There are also reportedly more restrictions when filming in other countries.

"So, we quickly scrambled a crew and got them out there because we thought it was a very relevant and important part of the story to tell, provided everyone was still okay participating and telling that story," Orstein told E! News.

"And that definitely was probably one of the most shocking moments, at least in recent memory on the franchise."

Since cameras missed all the action, Jenny had to recall the events and tell the story in her own words while she was stuck in India alone.

"That's probably one of our biggest regrets, something along those lines," Orstein said of not having a camera crew in India to film Sumit's confrontation with his family when it happened.

"But it's possible it may have played out differently if cameras were there too."

Jenny was also in an extremely emotional and shaken state at the time she had divulged details, so the scene arguably turned out to be no less impactful or jaw-dropping.

"I think what the crew was able to capture on the heels of that was very compelling. It happens on a lot of shows, not just 90 Day," Orstein explained.

"When we come in right on the heels of something, we do our best to make sure that we tell the story in a compelling way that still gets viewers insights into what happened and what they might've missed."

90 Day Fiance: The Other Way began with Jenny revealing she had met Sumit on Facebook and once traveled to India to meet him.

But Jenny's first trip to India was cut short and only lasted four months because Sumit had learned his parents disapproved of the romance and would not allow them to get married.

Jenny and Sumit, however, continued their relationship long distance anyway, and the show documented Jenny moving to India so she could be with Sumit permanently.

Throughout Jenny's time in India, Sumit lied to his parents about their relationship -- but he also lied to Jenny about being married to another woman the whole time. He had been married for two-and-a-half years.

Jenny, however, knew something was off when Sumit would leave her for days on end to spend time with his parents and attempt to alleviate their concerns and suspicions about his whereabouts.

"I feel like your mistress... or something because you're hiding me from everybody," Jenny said. "It feels horrible, like, I'm supposed to be the woman you're in love with."

Sumit was battling the loyalty he had for his family with the love he had for Jenny. He didn't want to have to choose between them, but Jenny put pressure on her man to put her first since she had left her whole life behind in the United States to be with him.

Sumit admitted he had "lied a lot to everyone" and done "a lot of things wrong."

"I was dating Jenny when my parents set up an arranged marriage, and I barely knew the girl before I married her," said Sumit, who later argued, "No one should force me into a marriage... It's my decision. I want to be with Jenny. It's my right to be happy."

Sumit was essentially held hostage by his family for a while after they ambushed him.

Once Sumit and Jenny finally reunited and talked things out, Jenny had run out of time in India. The pair therefore had a very emotional goodbye, with Sumit feeling completely helpless and powerless.

"If you want to be with me and you really want us to be together, please take care of things... Please don't just let me go or it will never be the same," Jenny begged Sumit in tears.

"Please try to do something for us and fix everything and make everything okay. Broken hearts kill people -- do you know that? My heart is going to be ripped out of my chest."

Sumit cried about how he was to blame and it was his fault he was losing the love of his life, but Jenny apparently felt differently about the situation.

"I had the best six months of my life, and I don't want anybody to think that I made the biggest mistake of my life because he made me happy -- and I wasn't happy before," Jenny lamented.

"He's a good guy... it's not his fault. It's just... in Indian culture, he can't go against his parents. Just everybody believe that we love each other because it's true! It's true, true, true. We're not lying to anybody."

During the Tell-All special for 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way that aired in late October, Jenny revealed being back in the United States was difficult because she was supposed to be in India with her man. At the time, Jenny was living with her daughter Christina.

Sumit called in through video chat from a hotel room in Delhi, and he said his family and wife were aware that he'd be talking to Jenny that day.

Jenny said Sumit should have told her that he was married but she loved him so much that she probably would have stayed with him anyway.

Sumit explained he had signed up to do 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way so he could shout from the rooftops he's in a relationship with Jenny and loved her, considering his parents wouldn't listen to him or didn't seem to care.

Sumit was hoping to use the show as a way for him to get out of his marriage.

"I was not in love with my wife ever," Sumit confessed, adding that all he and his wife did was fight.

When Sumit was asked if he was having intimate relations with both Jenny and his wife back home, "No, not at that time."

Jenny believed Sumit's claim, and then the Tell-All host Shaun Robinson asked Sumit why he didn't demand a divorce from his wife since he was supposedly so madly in love with someone else.

Sumit insisted he had asked his wife for a divorce multiple times but his family was against the idea and got involved.

However, Sumit later revealed his wife had finally filed a case against him and so their divorce was pending. Jenny therefore envisioned she would be with Sumit again someday.

"I plan on going back to India. That is the plan," Jenny shared on the Tell-All.

Sumit said if his divorce proceeded peacefully, Jenny should not be in danger when she eventually returns to India.

Despite the couple's tumultuous romance, Jenny claimed in early November she and Sumit were still together.
