Sugar Ray Leonard says his Dancing with the Stars experience with professional partner Anna Trebunskaya was a standout moment in his life despite the couple's elimination during Tuesday night's live results show on ABC.

"I had the best time of my life. It was an experience I never thought would have taken place because I'm not a ballroom dancer, but the crash course I had was wonderful. Anna, my dear partner, was incredible. I'm going to miss all this," Leonard said during a Wednesday morning appearance on Good Morning America.

"I'm going to continue ballroom dancing and it was amazing!"

Trebunskaya said she shares the retired boxer and former The Contender host's feelings about their Dancing with the Stars experience, and also commended him for his contagious lively stage presence during the show.

"Everything, the whole package. The fact that he enjoyed being part of the show so much made it easy and just positive and I fed off him during live shows because he would just go and sparkle once the cameras and the lights would hit. We had so much fun dancing together. I laughed and I cried and it was the best experience," Trebunskaya explained when asked what she loved most about working with Leonard.

While Leonard and Trebunskaya suggested they initially felt actress and former Kirstie Alley's Big Life star Kirstie Alley and actor Ralph Macchio were the favorites to win Dancing with the Stars' twelfth season, they now feel there are several other strong contenders for the competition's mirror ball trophy.

"People want to see good dancing but people also want to see improvement, so I think some of the frontrunners from the very first couple weeks kind of slipped back and some of the people went forward. I'm very happy for [Petra Nemcova and partner Dmitry Chaplin] for doing so good. I'm also excited to see what [Hines Ward] is going to do," Trebunskaya said.

"Romeo," Leonard added.

"Well, Romeo -- we all know he has a six pack -- so you can't play that card anymore. Now, he actually has to improve the dancing bit," Trebunskaya said.

"The competition is pretty stiff and Romeo, Hines -- those guys -- are really..." Leonard started.

"You just love them. You just love Romeo," Trebunskaya interjected.

"I mean, I'm going to miss that. The comradery, the love and support, the show, my high heels, all that stuff," Leonard joked.
