Justin Bieber has rushed to his friend Kylie Jenner's defense after she was attacked on social media for sporting cornrows.

The 17-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star posted a photo of her cornrows hairstyle on Instagram Saturday, sparking criticism when The Hunger Games star, 16-year-old Amandla Stenberg who played little Rue, slammed Jenner for the look.

"When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter," Stenberg was quoted as saying.

Jenner then referenced mutual friend Jaden Smith who took Stenberg to her high school prom back in May when she replied, "Mad if I do...mad if I don't. Go hang w Jaden or something."

Bieber, 21, left a comment to show his support for Jenner on Instagram Monday night, Us Weekly reported.

"Guys leave her alone, we're all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope!" Bieber wrote, according to a screenshot of the post obtained by Us.

"I'm the first to know this," he continued. "But saying she's being racist because she wants her hair in braids is ridiculous. Let's focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid let's do something about equality, but it doesn't start here blasting a 17 year old kid for wearing braids smh."

Stenberg later posted a lengthy message about racial and gender double standards on Twitter, insisting she just has "strong opinions" and is "not angry."
