Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Dancing with the Stars' ouster came with a sense of relief -- as he's apparently happy he won't have to have any more encounters with fellow professional and former fiancee Karina Smirnoff.

"I feel completely betrayed. I'm done," Chmerkovskiy told People about his relationship with Smirnoff in a Wednesday report.

When he was subsequently asked why he feels "betrayed," Chmerkovskiy declined to elaborate.

"I don't want to get into the specifics," he told People.  "Let's just leave it at I'm done."

Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff broke-off their engagement last month -- only two weeks before Dancing with the Stars ninth season premiered on ABC, for which he was paired with actress Debi Mazar and she was partnered with singer Aaron Carter.

While friends of the former couple -- who got engaged last New Year's Eve -- told People that Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff seemed to be heading towards an eventual reconciliation, that is apparently no longer the case.

Chmerkovskiy is reportedly angry about the amount of time Smirnoff and Carter are spending together, sources told People, adding that Carter's recent claim that he has a crush on Dancing with the Stars professional Chelsie Hightower was simply a rouse.

"That's so funny. Everyone [at the show] knows that's not true. That's Karina trying to manipulate things to take attention off her and Aaron," a source told people.  "[Chmerkovskiy] had hoped they could work things out."

Smirnoff declined to directly address the situation, telling People that she and Chmerkovskiy are "both trying to figure out our lives and work on ourselves."

"At this moment, we're happy to be where we are," she added.

Despite her claims, the uncomfortableness between Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff was apparently evident last week when both arrived separately at Los Angeles club Teddy's.

"Maks showed up with these two smoking hot women," an onlooker told People. "I mean they were like models -- tall, gorgeous. Karina looked like, 'Oh, my God!' He sat down and they were just talking. He was cool. He wasn't putting on a show."

However Smirnoff apparently couldn't handle his presence.

"She just shot out of her seat and left," the onlooker told People.  "I would have done the same thing if I were her. I would have run out of the place crying."
