CNN brought on Kathy Griffin to co-host their New Year's Eve coverage for insight about the "D-List." Instead they got the "D-word."

The loudmouth star of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List had been tapped by the cable news network's New Year's Eve coverage in Times Square, NY alongside CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

Never one to keep quiet, Griffin had her most recent "YouTube moment" after a discussion between Griffin and Cooper regarding their common love of Bravo's The Real Housewives reality franchise shifted when Griffin said that she had been asked to host a reunion of Oxygen's The Bad Girls Club.

"Didn't Starr Jones do that already?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah, I might have scooped her," Griffin responded with a smile.

"Oh, honey," Cooper joked back as he put his arm on her shoulder, eliciting laughs from surrounding audience and crew.

"What? That's a big gig for me," Griffin said to Cooper before seeing the laughs and setting her sights off camera.

"What are you laughing at?" Griffin screamed. "You're out here in the freezing cold for your twelfth hour!"

After seemingly gathering herself, and even joking that Jones must have been "booked" already as Cooper announced that they were going to a commercial break, the mics were left on long enough after the cameras were cut off to catch Griffin's second exchange with another nearby heckler.

"Shut up! You know what, screw you! I'm working! Why don't you get a job, buddy!" Griffin said. "You know what? I don't go to your job and knock the d***s out of your mouth!"

Griffin's gaffe was cut out of CNN's subsequent rebroadcasts of the New Year's special.
