Nick Viall came face to face with his ex Andi Dorfman on the latest episode of The Bachelor, and much to everyone's surprise, the conversation ended happily.

Andi knocked on Nick's hotel-room door in Brooklyn, NY, when he was getting ready for the Rose Ceremony that followed the women's hometown dates and concluded with Corinne Olympios' elimination. Nick was shocked Andi wanted to have a conversation in light of their history.

"The last time Andi knocked on my door it didn't turn out so well," Nick wrote in his People blog.

As a reminder, Andi dumped Nick in the Dominican Republic on The Bachelorette's tenth-season finale for winner Josh Murray in 2014. When Josh and Andi were preparing to make their public debut as an engaged couple on After the Final Rose, Nick announced she had made love to him, a disclosure she called "below the belt."

Years later, Andi released a memoir It's Not Okay detailing her alleged cringe-worthy sex with Nick in the fantasy suite and volatile relationship with Josh, whom she split from in January 2015.

"It was a couple years ago, and I thought I was about to have the opportunity to propose. Instead she broke my heart and broke up with me.  Lucky for me, we haven't dated in quite some time and this knock wasn't so dire, but it certainly came as a shock just as the time before," Nick admitted.

Andi and Nick exchanged pleasantries in New York that night, touched upon their past and talked about the remainder of his The Bachelor season.

Andi advised him to be intimate only with the women he truly saw a future with in the fantasy suites, and Nick revealed to his ex there was a possibility he may not propose to anyone at the end of his journey -- although he was hopeful the process would work for him this time around.

"Andi and I have certainly had our fair share of drama over the past couple of years, but we've actually reached a place where we're gracious and somewhat friendly with one another," Nick explained.

"Who would have thought that Andi and I would be in place where we could openly talk about love, sex and our history so calmly?"

Nick was pleased overall with how his conversation with Andi, who is currently single and living in New York, turned out.

"Sure a visit from your ex can be awkward, but I thought that Andi's visit proved that after sometime, you can be friends with an ex," Nick noted. "While our trip down memory lane was short and sweet, it reminded me that I'd eventually have to make a similar tough decision in the weeks coming."

Although New York is Nick's "favorite city in the world," he was "dreading" the "emotional" Rose Ceremony in which he sent Corinne home.

At this point in The Bachelor season, three women are left in the running for Nick's heart: Raven Gates, Rachel Lindsay and Vanessa Grimaldi. He will eliminate another bachelorette after his round of overnight fantasy-suite dates.
