The Bachelor alum Carly Waddell was rushed to the hospital on Monday night, and her estranged husband Evan Bass says she's "still in pretty rough shape" and "may have to go back."

Evan took to his Instagram Stories on Monday night to post a photo of Carly in a hospital bed.

"Carly's first ambulance ride -- she's gonna be ok and, my goodness, this brings back some memories," Evan, a 38-year-old erectile dysfunction specialist, captioned the photo.

Evan seemed to be alluding to the fact he had been hospitalized on Bachelor in Paradise's third season and it was Carly, 35, who stayed by his side.

Many fans wondered at the time if Evan was faking an illness for attention from his crush, but Carly confirmed to Glamour magazine in September 2016 that Evan had been suffering from two infections and she finally realized she liked him during his health crisis in Mexico.

Hours after his first post on Instagram Stories, Evan returned with an update on Carly's medical condition.

"Thanks for all the prayers and support. After 9 hours we left the hospital but she's still in pretty rough shape and may have to go back," Evan explained.

"Continued thoughts and prayers are so appreciated. And she knows she's beloved. I know y'all wanna know what's going on, but it's her health and story to tell if she wants to share."

Evan then clarified, "(I did get her permission to share photo from earlier so you can relax Jan from Wisconsin). In all the madness, she lost her phone and she really needs to rest so it might be a bit."

Carly and Evan announced their split in December 2020 after three years of marriage. The pair, who wed on Season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2017, share a two-year-old son Charles "Charlie" Wolf, whom they welcomed in November 2019, and a three-year-old daughter Isabella "Bella" Evelyn, who was born in February 2018.

"We have made the difficult decision to separate," the former couple said in a statement shortly before Christmas.

"We will always cherish our time together and continue to have the utmost respect for one another as we focus on what's best for the future of our family."

Carly admitted in late December she was "very sad" after her breakup with Evan and going through a divorce "just sucks."

Although Carly wrote on Instagram "all wounds heal" at the time, she opened up to fans via Instagram Stories about the pain she was experiencing.

"I've obviously never been through a divorce before, so I don't really understand how this process works. I'm kind of learning as I go. Every new little thing just sucks," Carly admitted after thanking her followers for their support and kind words. "It's hard... COVID sucks and 2020 just sucks."

Evan didn't break his silence about the split until April, when he suddenly made a social-media comeback, Us Weekly reported.

"Obviously, as someone who has just been quiet through this whole process and, like, I feel like I'm an easy target because in the absence of information from one side, you just sort of fill in the gaps or whatever, believe whatever, which is fine," Evan reportedly said at the time.

"But I just want you guys to have some empathy."

Evan and Carly were later spotted enjoying a Mother's Day brunch together sans children in Nashville, TN, with eyewitnesses telling TMZ that they looked friendly with each other.

But Evan reportedly revealed in a June Q&A session with his followers on Instagram that he's "dating" again and "happier than I've been in a long time."

Evan insisted, however, he won't look for love on The Bachelor franchise again.

"I've literally done everything on the Bachelor," Evan quipped on Saturday, according to Us.

"Been a complete spazz, looked like an idiot, engagement, marriage, a damn ultrasound, sex reveal, my kids are freaking babysat there -- what the hell else could I do?! Chase after an [Instagram] influencer?!... WHAT MORE COULD YOU POSSIBLY WANT."

Carly and Evan fell in love in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise and got engaged during the September 2016 finale.

Evan -- who also has three older sons from a previous relationship: Nathan, Liam and Ensley -- pursued Carly with determination only to face resistance in the beginning of the season, but Carly slowly fell in love with his quirks and personality.

The former Nashville-based couple went on to tie the knot in June 2017, and their wedding ceremony aired during an episode of Bachelor in Paradise's fourth season on ABC.

Prior to appearing on Paradise, Carly competed for Chris Soules' heart on The Bachelor's nineteenth season and experienced serious heartbreak on Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise when Kirk DeWindt unexpectedly dumped her during the final days of filming.

As for Evan, he initially fought for JoJo Fletcher's affection on The Bachelorette's twelfth season.
