Married at First Sight star Luke Cuccurullo has apparently seen the error of his ways -- and he doesn't feel good about himself.

When looking back on the first month of his marriage to Kate as shown on Season 8 of Married at First Sight on Lifetime, Luke isn't pleased with himself, nor is he proud of his behavior.

"In my mind, I knew [our relationship] was rough, but I didn't know it was that rough. It's just, like, I was doing such a worse job than I thought I was doing," Luke said during a Tuesday appearance on Married at First Sight: Unfiltered.

"To see that [footage] back, it's just, like, I don't know. It makes you feel like you can't fulfill that goal in life that you want so bad."

"You mean marriage?" Unfiltered host Jamie Otis questioned.

"Yeah," Luke replied.

Luke and Kate's marriage has been "a downward spiral," as Jamie put it on Unfiltered, since the day they said, "I do." And the majority of Married at First Sight fans have blamed Luke for their issues.

Luke was not attracted to his wife at first sight -- later admitting she's not his type -- and he never appeared to try to build physical intimacy between them.

And as the season progressed, Luke confessed to his wife he felt "repulsed" and "dead inside" when sharing their first real kiss after the wedding. He also accused Kate of having a drinking problem.

When Luke was given the chance to share his side of the story and explain his treatment of Kate on Unfiltered, he broke down into tears and had to remove himself from the situation.

At one point, Luke walked off the set in order to regain composure and take control of his emotions.

Once he returned and cameras resumed rolling, Jamie asked Luke how he was doing, and he replied, "Great."

"Tell us the truth," Jamie requested on Unfiltered.

Luke then confessed he's "terrible" -- but "pretty good."

Jamie then desperately tried to seek an answer from Luke on why he would tell his wife he felt "repulsed" and "dead inside" by her kiss, because this particular moment has had everybody talking.

"Those feelings were [coming from a place where] I never want two people to be in a situation where they're not completely comfortable, especially physical or intimate situations," Luke explained.

"It made me disappointed in myself because I wasn't ready to take that step."

Luke insisted, however, he definitely cares about Kate despite his portrayal on the show.

"I just want to take care of her, and it feels like I am just failing at that, you know?" Luke shared.

Luke seemed to get choked up again, and when Jamie asked him to confirm he was upset, Luke noted, "Always."

"It's just tough to see, kind of, I came in so hopeful and so optimistic and so ready -- and then reality and expectations didn't meet," Luke told Jamie.

Married at First Sight's eighth season also stars Kristine Killingsworth and Keith Dewar, Jasmine McGriff and Will Guess, and AJ Vollmoeller and Stephanie Sersen. The show currently airs on Tuesday nights on Lifetime.
