Julianne Hough will be returning to ABC's Dancing with the Stars for one night only.

However, Hough won't be reprising her role as a former professional partner. Instead, she'll be returning as a guest judge and substitute for regular judge Len Goodman.

Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron announced Goodman will be taking a couple of weeks off from the show in order to accommodate his other judging obligations on Strictly Come Dancing, the British series Dancing with the Stars was based on.

"Always love welcoming Julianne Hough back into the ballroom. What Julianne knows that you guys might not know, is that every fall, Len and [Bruno Tonioli] -- in addition to judging here -- also go back to England to judge what we call 'the mothership,' the show Strictly Come Dancing, that inspired this one," Bergeron explained during Monday night's broadcast.

"Len will be taking a couple of weeks off from our show.  During that sort of back and forth, we're going to have a couple of guest judges. One of them, Julianne Hough."

Bergeron then asked Hough, who was sitting in the audience, "What is it going to be like you think to be on the other side of that desk?"

"Oh my goodness," Hough replied. "I am so excited because I know how it feels to be on the floor. I know what it takes to put all of that effort and the time and the commitment in each week. So, and I just really want to feel those paddles. Like, I mean, don't be surprised if the 4's are just kicked out and gone. I'm just saying."

Bergeron thanked Hough and said they'd see her back in the ballroom in two weeks.

The last season Hough competed on Dancing with the Stars was Season 8 back in 2009. Although she originally planned not to participate in the show's eighth edition, she returned in order to compete with country singer Chuck Wicks, her boyfriend at the time.
