Helene Eksterowicz has gotten engaged to boyfriend Andrew Goodman.

"We are very happy about planning our future together," the former second-season The Bachelor winner told People.

Goodman, a senior technology consultant for IBM, reportedly proposed to his girlfriend of a year and a half during a trip to the Poconos last weekend. Goodman apparently shocked the middle school psychologist by popping the question, as she thought they were simply doing something special for her 37th birthday.

"I thought we were just going up there to celebrate my birthday, but boy was I surprised! We stopped somewhere to have a drink after a long day of snow-tubing and sightseeing and Andrew proposed after singing a karaoke version of the song 'Fire and Rain,'" Eksterowicz explained. "I almost thought it was a joke!"

The former reality TV star apparently couldn't stop gushing about her husband-to-be.

"Andrew is a great guy -- handsome, loving, family-oriented, hardworking and very non-Hollywood, which is perfect!" she told People.

Eksterowicz said she hopes to tie the knot this summer.

"We want to do something different, like have our reception at a winery or unique venue," she added. "We're really excited!"

Eksterowicz won the heart of Aaron Buerge, who served as the object of affection during The Bachelor's Fall 2002 second season. Buerge proposed to Eksterowicz during the final Rose Ceremony, but while she accepted the proposal, the couple called it quits in February 2003. She was memorably dumped at a Starbucks.

As for Buerge, he married Angye McIntosh -- whom he met through an ex-girlfriend and dated for a couple of years before they exchanged vows -- in August 2009. They welcomed their daughter Aven in October of that same year.
