The Bachelor second-season star and his wife Angye welcomed their first child -- a daughter named Aven -- on October 5, Us Weekly reported in its December 14 issue.
"Avens are roses, so we thought it appropriate," the 35-year-old banker and restaurateur told Us.
Buerge and his wife were married in their hometown of Springfield, MO in an August ceremony that took place in the Grande Ballroom of the Historic Vandivort Centre, a venue he has owned since 2006.
Buerge said he's handling his new responsibilities well so far.
"Thank god I don't need much sleep," he told Us. "She's seven pounds of fury -- tiny with such a big set of lungs!"
Buerge appeared as the object of affection during The Bachelor's Fall 2002 second season and proposed to elementary school psychologist Helene Eksterowicz during the final Rose Ceremony. While she accepted the proposal, the couple called it quits in February 2003.
