NBC has announced that it has ordered a second season of its surprising hit The Biggest Loser series. Mail-in applications for the new edition of the weight loss reality show are already being accepted, and open casting calls will be conducted in December, with the network hoping to have The Biggest Loser 2 ready for broadcast by early spring

After a so-so start for the network, The Biggest Loser has quietly grown its ratings, and given the struggles and/or cancellation of much more highly touted new NBC series such as Father Of The Pride, LAX, Hawaii, and even Friends' spinoff Joey, has slowly emerged as one of its few fall successes.
Demonstrating the network's urgency to get another season of The Biggest Loser filmed and ready for broadcast as soon as possible, all mail-in applications (available for download from NBC.com) must be received by the rapidly approaching date of December 3. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and in good health (or at least as healthy as any overweight contestant looking to appear on a weight loss program can be.) A five minute VHS videotape must be included with all applications.
