NBC announces casting calls for 'Average Joe's 'Average Jane' edition

NBC announced yesterday that it has begun casting for Average Jane, this fall's upcoming gender-twisted next installment of its popular Average Joe reality series.

The network is looking for "smart, witty and engaging women with great personalities" who are looking for "something more substantial than just superficial physical attraction." Likewise, the producers are also looking for "charismatic, intelligent, successful bachelors" interested in meeting a woman who has much more to offer than just "model" good looks.

In Average Jane, viewers will see what happens when the tables are turned -- and real women travel to an idyllic, romantic destination to woo an eligible bachelor with charm, wit and intelligence instead of just relying on good looks.

Those interested in auditioning for Average Jane or submitting a friend or family member's name for consideration can apply online by visiting the "contestants" page at NBC.com. Additionally the network will be conducting a series of open auditions in select U.S. cities, begining this month in June in New York City, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Tampa. Venue locations, dates and times for those cities are detailed below, while additional cities will be announced later.

The eight-episode series, expected to begin filming late summer, is a production of NBC Universal Television and Krasnow Productions. Stuart Krasnow and Andrew Glassman are the executive producers.
