U.S. tabloid The National Enquirer has published a photo of Whitney Houston, lying in her coffin at a Newark, N.J., funeral home last weekend.

It is unclear who snapped the photo, and Houston's family has not commented publicly yet about it being published on the cover of the celebrity gossip newspaper under the headline, "Whitney: The Last Photo!" the Los Angeles Times said.

The image shows Houston looking peaceful and beautiful in a purple dress and sparkly earrings with makeup meticulously applied to her eyes and lips.

Written on the cream-colored lining of her coffin were musical notes and the word "Nippy," the nickname her family called her.

A private wake was held for Houston last Friday at Whigham Funeral Home. Her funeral took place Saturday and she was buried next to her father Sunday.

The Grammy Award-winning recording star was found dead Feb. 11 in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Her death at age 48 is under investigation, but a lethal combination of prescription drugs and alcohol is suspected as the cause.
