Sharna Burgess and her Dancing with the Stars celebrity partner James Hinchcliffe had a great chance to win the mirrorball trophy together, but due to injury, Burgess won't be dancing Monday night -- and possibly for the rest of Season 23.

The Dancing with the Stars pro slipped on her dress and suffered a fall during last week's dress rehearsal for the "Team Dance" round, which unfortunately did some damage to her knee, which had already been in rough shape.

Previously-eliminated DWTS pro, Jenna Johnson, has therefore stepped in, rehearsed and will dance with Hinchliffe for as long as Burgess is out of the competition.

"There is a possibility that Sharna and I have danced our last dance together on this season. It's not an awesome thought," Hinchcliffe, a pro race car driver, said in DWTS video footage obtained by TMZ.

The video featured footage from last week's dress rehearsal when Burgess fell.

"I felt something go a little bit on the inside," the pro dancer said in tears.

Burgess, however, was able to dance in last week's episode because she was informed there was reportedly "no tear" or "major swelling." So fans probably thought she was fine.

Burgess admitted in an interview with People after the show, "When I fell, it was pure panic. I've had an ACL reconstruction on that very same knee, so I was scared to death. In that split moment, you think 1,000 things, but I got up and tried to figure it out."

But after receiving an MRI the following day on Tuesday, October 25, Burgess clearly received some bad news.

In the TMZ video, Burgess was shown walking into Hinchcliffe's rehearsal room where he was practicing with Johnson.

"I spoke to my doctor. I'm supposed to have three to six weeks off," Burgess revealed to the pair. "You still have four weeks left in this competition. I'm still there for you, but it's going to be Jen dancing with you for this one. I'm sorry."

"You're sorry?" Hinchcliffe asked in surprise, implying that Burgess had done nothing wrong and the situation was out of her control.

"I know that Jenna is going to do a great job," Burgess told the cameras. "But I'm a dancer; I'm a creator. And it's really hard to walk away from that."

Hinchcliffe then carried Burgess' bags to her car outside in the parking lot and said goodbye.

"I know a thing or two about not rushing a recovery," said Hinchcliffe, who overcame life-threatening injuries in a crash during practice for the 2015 Indianapolis 500. "So no matter what happens from here on out, the only reason I'm here is because of everything you've done. So you're going to be fine; You're going to get better. And it's going to be great."

"I know," Burgess replied with a smile on her face. "You're amazing. It really does suck."

The pro race car driver then hugged the partner he's been working with since the start of the DWTS season and said, "Just go and get better, alright?"

Dancing with the Stars' October 31 broadcast will feature a Halloween theme.

Hinchcliffe will be coming off a successful prior week in which he and Burgess topped the judges' leaderboard in a first-place tie with one other couple.
