Married at First Sight star Tristan Thompson feels Mia Bally constantly tested him in their marriage because she wanted him to be her savior.

On Married at First Sight's seventh season, Mia threatened Tristan with divorce and then left their hotel room in Austin, TX, in the middle of the night during what was supposed to be a weekend mini-moon.

Mia shut her phone off and disappeared, according to Tristan, but when she returned hours later, she explained to her husband she never wanted a divorce but was rather hoping Tristan would've fought for her to stay and fought for their relationship.

When Mia throws out the word "divorce," Tristan told host Jamie Otis on a Married at First Sight: Unfiltered special dubbed Ready As I'll Ever Be, "I know she doesn't mean it. All she wants is for me to say, 'No, I want you.'"

"It's like she has this savior complex or something with me," Tristan said with co-star Dave Flaherty sitting by his side.

"So it's like, I have to save her each time, like, 'Oh you saved me from walking out. Tell me that you want to be with me. Give me affirmation that you do love me and that you'll chase me down if I'm walking away. Stop me, caress me and tell me no, no, no, no, and beg.' And I'm like, 'That's not me!'" he said.

Jamie noted Mia's behavior doesn't sound far off from how Amber Martorana has been shown acting in her marriage to Dave. Amber often pushes Dave to express his feelings for her on Married at First Sight.

"I was thinking that watching it. I think that they do things to sort of reach out for confirmation, reassurance, or whatever it is. And I think both of us are like, 'What are you looking for here? This is really tough,'" Dave admitted.

"But I really feel for Tristan in that situation where [Mia] is saying, 'Well, I know I said I wanted a divorce, but I wanted you to say, no I want you.' Like, hold on. That's just a bad approach."

Jamie then asked Dave, "Do you think that if this was you and Amber, you could reconcile from something like this?"

"Yeah," Dave replied.

"You know, Amber and I have gotten into fights that have led to her threatening to leave or, you know, saying she's going to sleep on the couch. So, a lot of the stuff I'm seeing here, we've gotten through. It's tough, that stuff is hard, you know?"

Dave then shared how Married at First Sight expert, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, had told the cast members early on in the eight-week experiment to never threaten divorce or threaten to leave.

"And I think Amber and Mia have both done it -- quite a few times," Dave told Jamie, adding however, "I don't think Amber has ever said the word 'divorce.' It's a big deal."

Tristan apparently doesn't believe Mia even came to regret leaving their hotel room in Austin that night despite the falling out they had as a result.

"I think, a lot of times, Mia does what is best for herself first. A lot of people are tired of being single, but that doesn't mean they're ready to be married. And so one of the things where I think Mia has really struggled with is that independence," Tristan reasoned.

In addition to Tristan, Mia, Dave and Amber, Married at First Sight's currently-airing seventh season on Lifetime also stars Bobby Dodd and Danielle Bergman. The season's "Decision Day" finale will air Tuesday night.
