The Los Angeles County coroner said the 68-year-old Brit went off the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning Los Angeles' San Pedro port district and Terminal Island about 12:30 p.m. His body was recovered about 4 hours later, TZM reported.

The Los Angeles Times reported a suicide note was found in Scott's office and a note listing contact information was found in his car, which was parked on the bridge.

The newspaper said law enforcement sources said several witnesses saw Scott climb over a fence on the bridge and leap.

Scott, the brother of director Ridley Scott, also directed "Beverly Hills Cop II,""Crimson Tide" and "Enemy of the State."
