HBO Entertainment President Carolyn Strauss said Parker will develop both series and long-form programming through her production company, Pretty Matches Productions.
"We are thrilled to be partnering once again with Sarah Jessica Parker, whose great talents and unique sensibilities will guide a new generation of cutting-edge programming for HBO," said Strauss.
Parker starred in and executive produced the hit comedy "Sex in the City" for HBO, winning an Emmy during the show's final season for best actress in a comedy series. The show won an Emmy for best comedy series in 2001.
"I'm overjoyed to be able to officially call HBO my creative home," said Parker, "and I'm excited to continue one of the most rewarding and inspiring collaborations I've had the privilege to experience."
Parker is currently filming "The Family Stone" for writer-director Thomas Bezucha. Her other upcoming film projects include "Failure to Launch," a romantic comedy co-starring Matthew McConaughey.
