Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce from actress Scarlett Johansson Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, People.com reported.

The couple married in 2008 and announced their separation this month.
People.com quoted a source it did not name as saying the relationship buckled under the strain of Reynolds' and Johansson's individual successful careers.
Reynolds, 34, has starred in the blockbusters "The Proposal" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
Currently People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive title holder, he will soon be seen playing the superhero the Green Lantern on the big screen.
Johansson is best known for her work in the films "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and "Lost in Translation." She won a Tony Award this year for her work in the Broadway revival of "A View from the Bridge."
