The Web site E! Online reported Saturday that Maksim Myaskovskiy, 18, had threatened to kill the starlet at an industry event.
Duff and her boyfriend at the time, Joel Madden, had obtained 100-yard restraining orders against Myaskovskiy and his roommate, celebrity photography David Joseph Klein, who was accused of approaching Duff and her boyfriend on his roommate's behalf.
The "Lizzie Maguire" star's information provided for the restraining orders, which claimed Myaskovskiy had traveled to the United States two years ago "solely for the purpose of making contact with Duff."
E! Online also said court documents alleged the man had become obsessed with the young star and was intending to buy a gun in order to "commit dramatic acts to get her attention."
