Rep: Bret Michaels still in critical condition with brain hemorrhage

By Christopher Rocchio, 04/24/2010

Bret Michaels remains hospitalized under "intense observation" a day after The Celebrity Apprentice participant and former Rock of Love star suffered a massive brain hemorrhage.

"Bret remains in critical condition," his representative told People in a Saturday report. "Further tests are being ran and information will be updated in the coming days."

Michaels was rushed to an undisclosed hospital after experiencing severe headaches late Thursday night, and doctors subsequently discovered he had bleeding at the base of his brain following several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram.

While Rock of Love second-season winner Amber Lake told TMZ on Friday night that she spoke with people close to Michaels who said he had been stabilized and was "awake, in good spirits and talking," his rep suggested that is not the case.

"There are several incorrect reports on Bret's condition," the rep told People.

The 47-year-old former Poison frontman -- who suffers from diabetes -- was also rushed to a San Antonio hospital early last week for an emergency appendectomy after he began to have stomach pains before a scheduled performance at Sea World.

He was subsequently released to a private care facility for diabetics and wrote in a message to fans that he was in a lot of pain but otherwise on the road to recovery.

On Thursday, Michaels wrote another message to fans stating he was "not 100% yet."
