VH1 announced it has renewed Rock of Love with Bret Michaels for a third season after the former Poison frontman and second-season winner Ambre Lake decided to split due conflicting personal schedules.

"Bret has been very upfront and honest about how difficult maintaining a normal relationship may be for a touring rock star," said Lake.  "He's right, it's absolutely an insane lifestyle and neither of us had the time to make it work."

Dubbed Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels and set to debut early next year, the Flavor of Love-like reality dating series' third season will take Michaels' new batch of female suitors out of the show's prior mansion setting and onto a tour bus that will follow Michaels across the country on a month-long trek.

The women competing for Michaels' affection will be tested on their devotion to him through numerous challenges specifically revolving around his life on the road -- ranging from Truck Stop Olympics to a dance contest on top of the St. Louis Arch.  In addition, the women will also have to greet groupies, endure grueling schedules and fill in for delinquent roadies.

While the winners of the various challenges will be awarded dates with Michaels, only one will ultimately claim his heart.

Lake's relationship with Michaels lasted longer than that of first-season winner Jes Rickleff, who immediately ended their fling when she returned home to Chicago after filming the show.  She instead decided to remain with her Windy City-based boyfriend.

Rock of Love was created and executive produced by Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego for Mindless Entertainment and 51 Pictures, The Surreal Life team who also produced VH1's Flavor of Love, I Love New York and My Fair Brady reality hits.
