Miss America pageant severs hosting contract with Atlantic City

The Miss America Organization Thursday left Atlantic City, N.J., the city that has hosted the pageant since its start in 1921.

The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority board of directors granted the pageant's request to sever the contract for the annual event in Boardwalk Hall, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Although an official announcement has not been made, Miss America's deal with the Country Music Channel has raised speculation the contest would wind up in Nashville.
