Married at First Sight star Matthew Gwynne has revealed he struggled with commitment in his prior relationships before he married Amber Bowles on Season 9 of the Lifetime reality series.

"What would you say is your biggest issue in past relationships?" Married at First Sight: Unfiltered host Jamie Otis asked Matt on last week's episode of the show.

"I think probably commitment," Matt replied.

"That's a pretty big issue," Jamie replied.

"Yeah," Matt agreed. "But [I was] holding back from seriously committing because of probably some trust issues in there."

"That I feel like a lot of people can relate [to]," Jamie then noted.

Matt's Married at First Sight co-star Gregory Okotie, for example, admitted in a recent episode of the series he had struggled with trust issues in his previous relationship.

Prior to marrying Deonna McNeill on Married at First Sight, Greg had been engaged to a woman and the couple had been together for about four years.

Greg confessed his insecurities at the time caused him to have trust issues and be controlling, resulting in a "toxic" relationship that ultimately failed.

Greg didn't hesitate to share the issues of his past with Deonna during their honeymoon in Antigua.

And while Deonna was surprised at first to hear Greg had been engaged before, she appreciated his honesty and candor.

"I'm just glad that he's open. I think he just put all of that on the table and it doesn't leave room for question at the end for [Deonna] to be like, 'Well why didn't you tell me this?' or 'Why didn't you tell me that?'" Married at First Sight star Elizabeth Bice said on Unfiltered.

"So, I mean, it was a big part of his life and changed who he was, so it's really awesome he's sharing that. It's a great time to share right now, so right on Greg for that!"

Married at First Sight expert, Dr. Viviana Coles, agreed Greg had made the right move by being so forthcoming with Deonna about mistakes he's made and what he's learned from them.

"Sometimes it takes the mystery out of it, right? Because had he held on to that information, it would've maybe made her think that there were feelings that were lingering," Viviana explained.

Jamie then chimed in and said, "I think it's really telling about Greg's personality that he's willing to take accountability for some of that. And the fact he said he went to therapy was really impressive to me."

Greg revealed to Deonna he underwent therapy after his failed engagement to become a better, more confident man.

Greg always had trouble convincing himself that he was worthy of having a beautiful partner in his life.

As for Elizabeth, she revealed her biggest insecurity in past relationships was being vulnerable.

"I think my biggest insecurities in my past relationships is not letting my guard down enough for people to actually see the real me," she said.

"Yeah, I feel like -- just based on knowing you -- being vulnerable is difficult for you," Jamie replied.

"Yes," Elizabeth confirmed.

In addition to Greg, Deonna, Matt and Amber, Married at First Sight's currently airing season also stars Elizabeth's husband Jamie Thompson as well as Iris Caldwell and husband Keith Manley.
