A variety of sources are offering different reasons for the cancellation of U.S. singer Lyle Lovett's British tour this year, a report says.

Billboard.com said while the 48-year-old singer told a magazine in a recent interview his seven-date tour was canceled because promoter Live Nation wanted to postpone it to increase ticket sales, other sources close to the decision have proffered alternative causes.
A Royal Albert Hall representative said that the singer's international comeback tour, which included a date at the London locale, was called off by it promoter "due to unforeseen circumstances."
Yet another source, Lovett's British publicist, reported the event would not begin on Oct. 8 "due to recording commitments," Billboard.com said.
The Web site said whatever the cause, the tour has been canceled and the "Smile" singer is currently on tour in North America until Sept. 18.
