Fox has announced it's picked up Kicking & Screaming, a show that will pair up 10 expert survivalists with pampered and privileged partners for a dangerous and physically-challenging race, which will premiere later this year.

From executive producer Matt Kunitz, who's behind Wipeout and Fear Factor, Kicking & Screaming will drop unlikely duos into the wilderness where they must overcome extreme weather conditions, hunger, raging rivers and frightening animals together.

"Pairing high-level experts with high-maintenance novices struck us as a perfect way to extract comedy from the survival competition genre," Fox executive David Madden said in a statement. "Matt Kunitz has tremendous experience in this field, and together with Lionsgate, we've got the perfect partners to lead us on this adventure."

The first team to cross the finish line will win, but the survivalists -- who are accustomed to expeditions and fending for themselves -- must deal with partners who believe "roughing it" is skipping a weekly massage.

"I've always been fascinated by the survival space, so I am excited to infuse a touch of comedy into a traditionally dramatic genre and to get to do it on Fox," Kunitz added. "I am pleased to be producing this series in association with Lionsgate, a studio known for stand-out, brand-defining shows, which is perfect for the conflict, heart and humor viewers will see."

Kunitz created Kicking & Screaming along with David Shumsky and Mark Harris. The eight-episode series is being produced by Lionsgate Television and executive produced by Kunitz and Anthony Dominici.
