Former U.S. reality television personality Nicole Richie and rocker Joel Madden have confirmed they are engaged.

Richie and Madden have been a couple for more than three years and are the parents of a son and a daughter.
"Yep. i'm engaged. Very happy. Yeah we've been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same," People.com quoted Madden as saying via Twitter after news of their engagement broke Monday night. "P.s. thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody."
