The re-release of Elvis Presley's single "One Night" has become the 1,000th No. 1 hit in U.K. chart history, the Sun reported Monday.

William Hill bookies were forced to close betting Thursday that Presley would take the 1,000th spot after fans backed the price to 14/1.
Spokesman Rupert Adams said: "To our knowledge this is the first time that an Elvis bet has taken us to the cleaners as the majority of Elvis bets we take are for him to be found alive -- presently offered at 500/1."
Last week, Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" sold 21,262 copies to reach the top spot -- the lowest number of sales to reach the top spot since data began being tracked in 1969.
