Dwayne Johnson has been granted a solo film as DC Comics villain Black Adam as part of Warner Bros.' DC extended universe.

The film is being developed at the studio's New Line division alongside "Shazam!" which Johnson signed on to star in as Black Adam in 2014, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Similar to "Shazam!," the Black Adam solo film has no writer, director or other stars yet attached with no set release date.

"Shazam!" is slated to arrive in theaters April 5, 2019.

Johnson revealed on Instagram recently that he had a "strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe."

"As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN," he continued.

Famed comic book writer and DC Entertainment head Geoff Johns commented on the meeting with Johnson noting on Twitter, "One of my favorite meetings ever..."

Created in 1945 as the nemesis of Justice League member Captain Marvel, the powerful Black Adam gains the powers of Egyptian gods when he shouts the magical word "Shazam!" Although mostly seen as a villain, the character has more recently been portrayed in the comics as more of an antihero.

"I have loved the role of Black Adam. I love that he starts off as a slave, that he felt like he was wronged," Johnson previously noted when discussing why he wants to portray the character.

"I have just loved that backstory. I think that Black Adam has always been, to me, the most intriguing superhero," he continued.
