Icy roads resulted in a woman delivering her son in the parking lot of a Connellsville, Pa., hospital.
Rebecca Johnson was being driven to The Uniontown Hospital by her mother and sister, but after an hour of slow driving on icy roads, she instructed them to pull over at Highlands Hospital, the Connellsville Daily Courier reported Friday.
"I was having contractions on the way to Uniontown, but I told them to pull into Highlands or I was going to have the baby in the car," Johnson said.
Johnson said she had "a really bad contraction" just as she was attempting to stand up and climb into a wheelchair when all 5 pounds, 15 ounces of Mason Matthew Parkinson plopped into the leg of her sweatpants.
"It happened so fast," Johnson said. "I didn't know what happened until he was in my pant leg."
Doctors at The Uniontown Hospital, where mother and son were later transported, said both are in good health.
