Al Pacino says he hasn't ruled out 'Godfather 4' movie

UPI News Service, 12/08/2004

Film icon Al Pacino says he hasn't ruled out starring in a fourth "Godfather" movie, as long as Francis Ford Coppola is at the helm.

The late Mario Puzo created the saga of the Corleone family in his book "The Godfather" about 35 years ago.

The book was the foundation of three acclaimed films, written by Puzo, directed by Coppola and starring Pacino as mob boss Michael Corleone.

"The Godfather Returns," a new novel by Puzo successor Mark Winegardner, fills in years not covered by previous books and movies.

"Anything that has to do with 'Godfather,' go to Coppola," Pacino told UPI when asked if he would be up for another "Godfather" film. "I follow him. Whatever he says, I do."

Pacino went on to say he hasn't read Winegardner's version of the story.

"I've heard about it and the reviews and stuff, but I haven't read it," Pacino said. "I guess I would look at it. Why wouldn't I?"

Pacino can next be seen playing Shylock in the film adaptation of "The Merchant of Venice."
