Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her drastic weight-loss and the reasons behind it.

The Voice coach and first-season American Idol winner attributes her weight loss to "clean eating" and attempting to improve her overall health.

"I literally read this book, and I did it for this autoimmune disease that I had and I had a thyroid issue, and now all my levels are back up. I'm not on medicine anymore because of this book," Kelly, 36, told Extra, referring to The Plant Paradox by Steven R. Gundry, a cardiac surgeon.

"It's basically about how we cook our food, non-GMO, no pesticides, eating really organic... I'm not working out! I think people think I'm working out... Literally, I haven't worked out at all!"

Kelly has said for years her body weight doesn't concern her, that she's proud of her appearance and happy in her own skin no matter her size or weight. She even once told Attitude magazine she was "miserable" being skinny.

So when fans started chatting about Kelly's noticeable weight loss, many people questioned whether her views on body image have suddenly changed.

"Weight loss wasn't the goal," a source told People, confirming Kelly has now lost about 37 pounds. "This was an overall health approach."

Kelly has recently showed off her trimmer figure at the Billboard Music Awards and the CMT Music Awards since winning The Voice's fourteenth season earlier this year.

"There were reports that she had gone on some extreme diet, and that's just so the opposite of what she stands for," the source said, adding that Kelly's husband, Brandon Blackstock, has joined her on the new health journey.

"Kelly's one to love her body no matter what size she is. She's very happy and feels great!"

The Plant Paradox was released in 2017 and reportedly advocates reducing the consumption of foods high in proteins called lectins. Kelly therefore cut back on several types of grains, dairy products, nuts, and vegetables such as tomatoes, according to People.

The source insisted Kelly had already lost "a ton of weight" in March.

Kelly's team member Brynn Cartelli won last season of The Voice. Kelly will once again serve as a coach on the show's upcoming fifteenth season alongside mainstay coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
