America's Next Top Model 3 - Episode 4 Summary

'The “Walking” Episode' By Isabelle Murray
Original Airdate: October 13, 2004

This week, the show starts with super-yuppy-dudette (Kelle) who talks about how challenging it was to be in front of the panel of judges the last time and how scared she was to be eliminated.  Then, super-Idaho-girl (Jennipher) says that she is intimidated by the whole experience and being in New York is definitely much different than being in Idaho.  But she loves it.  Okay, enough babbling.

They have Tyra mail.  It says that school will be in session and that they should be ready with their sneakers.  They arrive in an empty room that has a runway.  A curtain opens and super-runway-dude (Miss J. or J. Alexander) appears, wearing a skirt and heels.  He walks a little bit in front of the girls and tells them that school is in session and that, in his classroom, practice makes perfect.  The best example is last year’s America’s Next Top Model winner Yoanna who walks in and struts her stuff in front of the girls.

The girls are really happy to get to see Yoanna and ask her questions.  They ask her what it was like to be there during the show and how she felt the pressure.  Yoanna says that the important thing is to focus on what you are doing and not what the other one is doing because, then, you get distracted and you make a mistake.  She also said that her life has totally changed since winning and she feels that it is great.  Also, the girls are young, they can sleep when they are dead.

So, super-runway-dude (J. Alexander) tells them that he needs to see legs so he has them in like leggings and a tank top.  He makes them do the classic book on the head while walking, which never goes out of fashion and is still working really well on posture.  Quite a number of girls walk and the book falls off.  A few manage rather well.  Next, the girls have to walk with a silk, flowing skirt and they should not trip over it and work it well.  That didn’t seem to be easy for them at all.  Next, they have some weird Vegas-like headwear with feathers and stuff to wear.  Well, apparently, it was used quite a bit this season.  Anyway, I guess that, with such a weight on your head, you need to hold it up high.  At the end of the day, super-runway-dude tells the girls that they will get to go to a club with him and have fun for the evening.

They arrive at the club and there is a waiting line in front of the club.  The girls figure out that something must be up since they are entering through the back door.  Well, the girls will get to walk, modeling the clothes from Heatherette, super-modern-girl’s (Norelle) favorite designers.  One of the reasons why super-modern-girl loves these designers is because they do clothes for Paris Hilton.  So, they have an impromptu runway show for the girls although, obviously, it had been prepared in advance.  The theme will be “crazy circus.”  Super-girl (Eva) loved the idea whereas super-cute-eyes-girl (Amanda) is scared because she is legally blind by day and totally blind by night.  She hopes to be able to see the runway before actually going on it.

After a frantic and very short preparation time, the girls go out.  Most do rather well under the circumstances.  Super-plus-size-girl (Toccara) does really well and the crowd is actually screaming and applauding at her.  Super-girl (Eva) says that super-plus-size-girl thought that she would win the challenge because of all the applauses but super-girl says more or less jokingly says that the reason why the crowd went nuts was because super-plus-size-girl’s boobs were showing…  Super-cute-eyes-girl (Amanda) was quite upset because she didn’t get to see the runway before going but she was pleasantly surprised:  there were glitters on the runway and those made it much easier for her to see where she was going.  So, she was really working it and walking in a very sexy fashion.  Super-modern-girl (Norelle) explains to us that she was so happy to do this show that even if she was eliminated next, it was a dream come true…  but then she fell while walking…  So she explains next how it was the best moment and the most humiliating moment all in one night!

After the show is done, super-runway-dude (J. Alexander) asks the girls their impressions of their experience.  Eventually, super-cute-eyes-girl (Amanda), who has her blind cane with her, talks with super-runway-dude and tells him about her eyes problem.  He is taken aback by that but it’s not quite clear exactly how he feels about it exactly.  Super-runway-dude then tells the girls that he will announce the winner of the challenge the next morning.

In one of the cars, the girls are kind of laughing at super-cute-eyes-girl (Amanda) and her problem because they think that she exaggerates her problem.  After all, she really worked the runway as if there was absolutely no problem.  Super-girl (Eva) was the main person who was leading the attack against super-cute-eyes-girl; she went on saying that SHE is short but you don’t hear her complaining.  Meanwhile, super-cute-eyes-girl mentions to the other girls in her car that she dreamt of super-girl and that she was beating her up.  Hmmm…  I smell bad blood!
