Utopia is no more, effective immediately.

Fox has pulled the plug on Utopia, the network's year-long experiment in which 15 pioneers would attempt to build a perfect civilization, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Just one month after reducing its schedule to only one episode per week on Friday nights, Utopia is being dropped completely due to unimpressive ratings. The series' most recent episode on October 31 was its last.

The network also pulled its live Internet feeds down on Sunday.

Fox initially dropped Utopia's Tuesday night episode when the reaction to the new series was less-than-stellar. However, condensing the schedule didn't help because the show's most recent broadcast averaged a series low of a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and racked in just about 1.5 million viewers.

Following its disappointing launch, Fox chairman and CEO Dana Walden tried to remain optimistic about the future of Utopia

"It is a really interesting twist on a franchise that feels familiar enough to viewers that I think over time it has the great opportunity that scripted shows do not have of introducing new pioneers, bringing in different points of view, activating new viewers to come in and check out the world," Walden told The Reporter in early September.

"We're definitely going to exhibit patience. What exactly that means, it's hard to tell. I'd say that as long as we're feeling creatively satisfied with the show, we're going to do everything in our power to give it an opportunity to thrive and grow."

Reality producer John de Mol was behind Utopia as well as Fox's new reality chief Simon Andreae.

Fox hasn't had great luck with its reality shows in recent months. This past summer, the network had to cancel I Wanna Marry Harry, and The X Factor was also a flop.
