"We knew. We had a hard day," Mark said in his final words. "I am proud of us because I feel like we are strong and we fought really hard. I'm so grateful that he's been my partner."
And Brett added, "I'm very happy. I love him so much and this was a wonderful time for us to spend together. I will cherish it and I'm very happy."

The Amazing Race broadcast began in Naples, Italy, with "Married parents" Jonathan Towns and Ana Towns departing at 11:51AM. "Married nurse anesthetists" Alyssa and Josiah still had their Express Pass to use.
And "Siblings" Han Nguyen and Holden Nguyen departed in last place at 12:58PM. Han and Holden were determined to fight until the end.
Teams were instructed to travel north by plane to Frankfurt, Germany and then by train to Strasbourg, France.
Once in Strasbourg, each team would drive a marked car to the Council of Europe, where they'd receive their next clue and find out that, at some point during the tenth leg, teams would be competing head-to-head.
All of the teams hopped on the same flight and train, so it was a close race at the start of the leg.
Jonathan and Ana arrived at the council building in first place, but "Best friends and gamers" Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge managed to get inside the building first and get a jump on waiting in line.
Brett and Mark, however, got lost driving around and had to stop to ask for directions.
In order to receive their clue at the Europe of Council, teams had to name the four countries they had actively raced in that were members of the Council of Europe.

Carson and Jack correctly named Bulgaria, Italy, Germany and France.
Carson and Jack therefore headed to Pont Couverts in first place.
The challenge at Pont Couverts required teams to compete head-to-head, tournament style.
The first team to arrive would face off against the second team, and the winner would advance with a clue while the loser must face off again against the next team to arrive.
Han and Holden were the first team to kick off the tournament, which turned out to be a Roadblock. Han, thinking it was a memory task, volunteered to do it.
One member from each team had to water joust, using a lance to try to push each other in the water.
Carson, arriving in second place, went head to head against Han.
Han defeated Carson, and so Han proceeded in the Race while Carson had to face off against Jonathan next.

Josiah was disappointed, but then he won his battle against Mark.
Brett and Mark, who had to wait out a 10-minute time penalty for finishing in last place, continued racing in last place as a result.
The teams' next set of clues instructed them to make way on foot to La Cloche a Fromage cheese shop, where teams must learn, identify and recite the names of nine different cheeses.
Han and Holden began the cheese task in first place, with Carson and Jack right on the heels. Jonathan and Ana showed up next, followed by Alyssa and Josiah. Multiple teams were therefore crowding the shop.
Alyssa asked Josiah if they could use their Express Pass since the task was taking Han and Holden a long time, but Josiah really didn't want to.

Han and Holden left the cheese task in first place and headed to Strasbourg Cathedral, where they had to climb over 300 steps up a spiral staircase to the top of Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg.
Carson and Jack finished the cheese task in second place, and Jonathan and Ana advanced in third. Jonathan was annoyed that Ana had messed up the cheeses, and he called her a bad partner.
Josiah asked Alyssa to stay calm, but she called his decision to continue the task "illogical" when they had an advantage they could use.
Josiah asked Alyssa to try again after several failed attempts, and she lamented, "I wish we used it 10 minutes ago! We would've been in first."
Alyssa and Josiah then decided to use their Express Pass before falling into last place, and Josiah apologized to Alyssa for making her wait and wasting time.
The teams' next set of clues led them to a Detour task in which they could choose "Out To Dry" or "For the Birds."

"For the Birds" required teams to build the initial structure of a stork's nest -- which can weigh roughly 1,000 pounds -- for a cherry picker to place high in the air.
On the way to the laundry task, Han asked a local for directions and shut down Holden's help, which apparently made Holden feel unappreciated.
Most of the teams had trouble navigating their way to the Detour, especially Jonathan and Ana, who bickered during the drive.
The teams who attempted the laundry task were Carson and Jack, Han and Holden, and Jonathan and Ana.
The teams who chose to make a nest were Brett and Mark as well as Alyssa and Josiah.
Carson and Jack completed the Detour in first place, and they proceeded to a vineyard called Table D'Orientation, which would serve as the Pit Stop for the tenth leg.
Carson and Jack stepped on the Pit Stop mat and met The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan in first place. As the winners of this leg, they won a trip for two to Finland.
"With the Express Pass being used, probably, in this leg," Carson began.
"We still beat them, Phil!" Jack gushed.
Alyssa and Josiah took off from the Detour in second place as Han and Holden struggled to get the job done.
Alyssa and Josiah arrived at the Pit Stop in second place, and Alyssa was in tears.

Alyssa and Josiah were therefore thrilled to find out they were Team No. 2. Josiah told Alyssa that she continued to prove she was "the best" and was truly an "Amazing Race champ."
Alyssa cried with tears of joy, "I thought we were out!"
Jonathan and Ana placed third in the leg, and Jonathan -- who had been snapping at his wife and losing patience with her -- stated how their finish was "not bad."

Han and Holden then claimed fourth place, resulting in Brett and Mark's elimination from The Amazing Race.
Brett and Mark were sad they wouldn't be able to race in the finals, but they were very proud of themselves.
