The couple described the celebration as "California autumn meets Italian vineyard," with pink accents and whimsical details giving the day a lively feel.

Guests dressed in formal attire for the wedding and then changed into Halloween costumes for the afterparty.

Among those celebrating were Survivor alums Andy Rueda, Anika Dhar, Aysha Welch, Gabe Ortis, Genevieve Mushaluk, Kyle Ostwald, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, Sierra Ammerman, Sol Yi, Stephanie Berger, Sue Smey, and Teeny Chirichillo.

The date was apparently a happy accident because Caroline and Austin had their hearts set on Monserate Winery after their first venue tour, and Halloween was the only Saturday the winery had available in Fall 2026.

"Getting married on Halloween has become our favorite happy coincidence," the couple shared with the magazine.

"It definitely wasn't something we planned for. We fell in love with Monserate the moment we toured it, and it was the first and only wedding venue we visited. So even though the only Saturday in fall they had available was Halloween, saying yes was an easy choice."

Caroline said the holiday soon became one of her favorite parts of planning, especially because it gave the couple a chance to add surprises for their guests.

"We knew we wanted a wedding that was uniquely us, and part of that is sprinkling in fun surprises for guests," she said. "Having our wedding on Halloween gave us the perfect inspiration."

For the welcome party, Caroline put together a clue-based trick-or-treat game. Guests played "find the guest" bingo using facts they had submitted about themselves, with candy as the prize. Anyone who finished that game could try another one on the wedding day, following a riddle to a final prize of Italian candles.

Caroline wore a gown by Monique Lhuillier for her big day, while Austin sported a Michael Kors tuxedo.

When the bride walked down the aisle, a custom piano version of "In My Life" by The Beatles played, which was a meaningful choice considering Austin used to send Caroline his favorite Beatles love songs when he was a college freshman and she was still a high school senior.

Caroline also chose to wear her mother's wedding veil before realizing that its lace almost matcher her dress perfectly.

"It felt surreal that we separately chose an almost identical lace for our wedding day 30 years apart," she said.

During cocktail hour, guests took part in the winery's first-ever wedding guest wine tasting with caviar. Dinner included a choice of braised boneless short rib or sesame-crusted tuna steak.

Engaged guests also found Ring Pops and a note from Caroline and Austin at their seats, congratulating them on their own upcoming weddings.

The couple served a vanilla bean wedding cake with whipped cream frosting, alongside lemon bars, millionaire bars and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Caroline and Austin said neither of them had spent much time imagining a wedding day before they started planning one and their celebration ended up feeling like a "massive party more than 12 years in the making" and a "dream we didn't know we had."

The pair first met in high-school Spanish class and grew closer while traveling to Model U.N. conferences. After a year of friendship, they began dating following a conference at UC Berkeley, where both would later attend college.

Austin proposed marriage during a surprise trip to Laguna Niguel, CA, a place that reminded them of the cliffs near their hometown of Palos Verdes.

"It's surreal that we've been with each other for almost half of our lives," Caroline said. "We're so grateful to have grown up together and become even closer over these past 12 and a half years."

"We've been each other's life partners for such a long time," she added, "and we're thrilled to start the next chapter of our relationship by officially becoming family."

Caroline was a 27-year-old strategy consultant from California when she competed on Survivor 47. She served on the jury and ultimately voted for Rachel LaMont to win. Rachel won in a landslide vote, with runner-up Sam Phalen only receiving one vote.
